Part of Scottish Adventure Cycling's purpose is to look after each other, and for good reason! We probably all know someone who has, or is currently battling with some kind of physical or mental challenge.
From training hard to achieve your performance targets, to working your way through relationship issues; life is hard and can be made even harder if you're trying to go it alone.
A new movie called 'The River Runner' was released on Netflix last week. It is the story of Scott Lindgren’s 20-year quest to be the first person to paddle the four great rivers that originate from Tibet’s sacred Mount Kailash and is much more than a gripping white water flick.
It is also an intimate chronicle of an emotionally stunted athlete who’s having a breakthrough after a life crisis. As a highly accomplished expedition kayaker and white water filmmaker, Lindgren always forbade any sign of emotional vulnerability on the river; he saw it as a weakness that might jeopardize the fortitude needed for extreme waters.
It takes a life-changing diagnosis, followed by a dark night of the soul, for him to finally learn how to show up with an open heart.
Thanks for bringing this one to my attention, Roy. I'm sure H and I will check this one out.
